Door stopper

26 Jul

Yay for skulls!

For our silly bathroom door that will never ever stay open :). Finally, after months of me saying I needed to make one, it is now done! A cute skulls print fabric, filled with rice. Easiest thing ever (wonder why I didn’t do it sooner in my infinite free time…).

CraZeeCrafteeZ Summer 2010 collection

21 Jul

I’ve been adding various mixed media to my earrings: glass, resin and wood. Still using my signature decoupage beads and some felt balls too. For a very colorful summer collection! These earrings are inspired by chinese lanterns. They been selling quite well since I’ve put them in my Etsy shop and it has motivated me to make more, coming soon!

Sensory paint bags

7 Jul

I made 8 sensory paint bags for our Coop kiddos today. I got the idea from Gabe’s teacher, Miss Jordan, at the Olive Tree. So much fun, especially with a light table. Which we don’t have, but it still works over a bright surface like a white sheet of paper, or hung against a window. It’s perfect to learn how to draw and erase, write letters, numbers, etc… Super fun.

I made paint from scratch with a mixture of flour, salt and water*, added food coloring and Simply thick gel. I’ve had that stuff for a while now and don’t know what to do with it. We bought a huge gallon jug for Theo when he had reflux, to thicken his night bottle and help him keep his milk down. Only, we only used it a few times.. I hadn’t found any use for it until now.

Tomorrow I’ll make new bags, with thickener and food coloring only, with little stars and glitters. Gabe loves it.

So much fun you can have with ziplock bags and food coloring :)

*Home made paint recipe:

1cup flour

1 1/2 cup of cold water

2 tbsp salt

1 1/4 cup of hot water

food coloring

Whisk the flour and cold water together to break the lumps. Add salt and hot water, in a saucepan, bring to a boil, constantly stirring. Take off the stove, separate in containers, add food coloring. Store in the fridge. And voila!

Cherry Blossoms

2 Jul

Yesterday I finally put up a decal I’ve been eye-balling for quite a while for our staircase. A giant cherry blossom tree from designedDESIGNER on Etsy. It took me about 2 hours to put up the tree and the dozens of flowers, and Gabe helped me some too. As he would say “Mommy, you make a mess, but it’s pretty”. Hihihihi.

Felting beads – wet felting technique

24 Jun

Wonderful result!

I purchased some beautiful roving a while back from Yarnlust and I’ve decided to finally start rolling my own beads, using the wet felting technique. After a couple of tries and watching a few tutorials on line, I finally got it right (I barely wasted any roving :P). I’m in love with the results and the colors, wet felting is so much fun. I think I will use the beads in my jewelry but will also sell them as supplies in my Etsy store.

Embroidery

28 May

I embroidered the drawing Gabe made of the 4 of us on his visit at the hospital and the 1st time meeting Theo. I’m the Mommy, in red, with Theo inside (blue) and Gabe’s green, Shad’s orange. I added the colors. But he still points out each and every one of us. So he totally knew who he was drawing and where. How smart is it to put his baby brother in my belly?? :)

Momoiro Kuro pendant – the first of a kind

19 May

So I have all these beads I made while I was still pregnant with Theo and nesting! I have a lot of designs in mind including this new pendant form. I made this first necklace with my own choice of favorite colors and I’m going to wear it for the next few days, business cards in hand :)

Hot sling for Theo

11 Apr

I made a hot sling using a pattern found on Handmade-Adelaide-Baby. Very easy to sew. I tried it for the first time with Theo yesterday and he seemed pretty cozy!
