Our new front door!

28 Feb

This weekend our friend Ale came and installed our new front door. It’s a craftsman style, respecting the historical denomition of our neighborhood. He did the wood work under the windows and stained it, it’s beautiful!

Our neighbor Paul who’s a carpenter and artist and can pretty much renovate anything said we had the best looking door in the street and we can be proud! We’ve seen people slow down in their cars to look at it. Somebody even asked Ale yesterday if the house was for rent.

Sorry, we’re keeping our house!

Another big day

14 Feb

I can’t believe how much we’re getting done when I am so tired and exhausted and worn down and Shad’s so tired from a week of work. Today we moved a lot of furniture around and Shad managed to start priming our old bedroom, soon-to-be TV room. I squeezed in a couple of necklaces.

We’ve moved so much dust around, I think I have the sinus infection of the year. Didn’t get any sleep last night, I hope tonight is better. It seems like the dust is also affecting Gabe although his allergy tests did not reveal a dust allergy.. I think he’s like his mommy, very allergic to dust. Tonight will be a humidifier/allergy meds/Vicks night for him.

I am ready to be done with this weekend, ready to be done with all the house work! If only we could get a couple of weekends off before Theo comes, but that seems more unlikely every day…

Gabe’s new bedroom

13 Feb

After an insane amount of work, we’ve finally managed to move Gabe’s bedroom upstairs today. We’ve been preparing him for the move for the last 10 days, going up there regularly and adding a few things at a time. He was so excited this morning when we finally started the process. All days long he wanted to go “upstairs! upstairs!”

We’re pretty happy and proud with the result. Although it is a full IKEA bedroom… oh well :) There are some handmade things. The pillows and sofa form in the little nook, and the heavy curtains. The painting over his bed that I made when Gabe turned one.

We have a very happy little boy tonight, I hope he sleeps well!

An exciting day…

2 Feb

… in the Reynolds’ household. After having had a furnace installed in our attic 3 (yes, 3) years ago, we’re FINALLY getting it properly hooked up today, so we can have heat upstairs. We’ve been slacking thus far because we hadn’t had really harsh winters. Not that this winter is particularly harsh, but it’s definitely colder than the previous ones. Since we’re moving our kids upstairs, we’re finally doing things right…

Did I hear someone say “Shouldn’t you have the roof redone first?”…
