Aquarena, San Marcos River

15 Aug

We took Gabe to the Aquarena park to get on the glass bottom boat, in San Marcos. A 40min ride and we’re there. Aquarena used to be the number one amusement park in the area (in TX?) before  Schlitterbahn and similar parks showed up. They used to have pigs racing in water!! That must have been quite something, I’m sort of sad they don’t do that anymore. The park is still great to and picnic run around for a couple of hours, with the glass bottom boat, the aquarium, the old cable car station and the wetlands. Gabe loved it and we’ll definitely do it again, possibly when the temperature has gone down a little…

Weekend in Port Aransas with friends

21 Jul

We spent last weekend in Port Aransas with friends from our Co-op preschool. We hope it was the 1st trip of many to come, we’re planning on making it an annual thing. Except next time we might go earlier, in May, when it isn’t as hot! It was a lot of fun for the kids – and the parents, even if we didn’t get much sleep. We took Gabe last year and it was interesting to see how differently he approached the beach and the ocean this time around. Last year he was worried/scared by the elements. This year, he was fearless and headed straight for the water, looked for (live) sea shells and fish. Hr also had so much fun with his friend Eamon discovering the boogie board, that’s on our list for the next beach trip.

Car rides aside (which were total hell and disaster), it was an awesome weekend. Theo went along with everything like he typically does. The world’s best baby :)

Here are a few pictures of the weekend.

Sunday morning, all 4 kids woke up at 5am... why??? But it allowed us to watch the sun rise and it was pretty awesome!
